Job Purpose :

The role entails overseeing the organization’s policies and procedures to mitigate the risks of financial crime. This includes monitoring compliance, anti-money laundering (AML) systems, and regulatory reporting. The organization facilitates capital introduction rather than holding client money, working closely with key stakeholders to maintain effective oversight of financial crime matters.

Key Responsibilities :

Financial Crime Oversight :

  • Serve as the designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO).
  • Develop and oversee anti-financial crime systems, including AML controls and enhanced due diligence processes.
  • Report annually to the Audit and Risk Committee on financial crime matters.
  • Provide training and supervision for compliance analysts.

Regulatory Compliance :

  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies regarding AML and KYC obligations, and other compliance requirements.
  • Conduct internal reviews and thematic audits in line with the annual compliance plan.
  • Maintain the organizational risk register and support board-level reporting on compliance issues.
  • Monitor regulatory updates, ensuring timely responses and adaptations.

Risk Management :

  • Assist in managing risk assessment frameworks and reporting systems.
  • Produce and deliver clear and concise compliance manuals, policies, and training materials.
  • Ensure all submissions, such as change-of-control applications, are compliant with relevant regulations and timelines.

Communication and Culture :

  • Promote a proactive compliance culture within the organization.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to staff and leadership.
  • Provide guidance on emerging regulatory developments and their potential impacts.

Skills and Experience :

  • Experience working within an MLRO capacity within the insurance industry
  • Strong ability to interpret and articulate compliance and risk management concepts effectively.
