Goodman Masson are currently working with a social housing organisation in London to recruit for an interim Compliance Manager.

About the Role: A leading property organisation is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to lead the delivery of outsourced lift and electrical services across a diverse residential and communal property portfolio. This is a senior technical role with responsibility for compliance, contractor performance, and the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective services.

The Role: You will oversee the planning, delivery, and monitoring of lift and electrical compliance services, including planned, reactive, cyclical, and small-scale project works. Acting as the technical lead, you will ensure statutory, regulatory, and best practice standards are consistently met, and that services deliver value for money for residents and stakeholders.

You will be accountable for managing contractors and consultants, monitoring performance, enforcing contract standards, and evidencing compliance throughout the lifecycle of the service. You will also manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and provide clear technical guidance to your team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage lift and electrical maintenance, repairs, and replacements to ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor legislation, guidance, and best practice relating to lifts, electrical installations, emergency lighting, lightning protection, and associated systems.
  • Hold contractors accountable for delivering services on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Chair operational and performance meetings with contractors, implementing improvement plans where required.
  • Ensure contractors are qualified, accredited, and audited throughout contract lifecycles.
  • Maintain accurate asset registers, compliance records, and auditable reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on lift and electrical compliance issues.
  • Oversee project works and offer technical leadership to ensure safe and compliant delivery.
  • Promote safe working practices across all compliance areas.
  • Apply lessons learned from complaints, audits, or incidents to continuously improve services.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the Lift and Electrical Compliance team, fostering accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Allocate and manage team resources to ensure priorities are met efficiently.
  • Embed a culture of compliance, safety, inclusion, and employee wellbeing.
  • Implement corporate objectives within your area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with HR and support functions on people management and development.
Skills & ExperienceEssential:
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, Electrical Safety Compliance certifications).
  • Proven experience managing lift and electrical compliance in residential, commercial, or public sector properties.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory requirements (LOLER, PUWER, Electricity at Work Regulations) and BS standards relating to lifts and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrable experience managing contractors, compliance contracts, and performance monitoring.
  • Budget management experience and ability to deliver value-for-money outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with residents, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Leadership experience, including embedding a safety and compliance culture.
  • Ability to diagnose complex lift and electrical issues and oversee resolution.
Desirable:
  • Membership of a professional body such as NICEIC, IET, or LEIANE.
  • BOSH or IOSH Health & Safety qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Willingness to undertake site visits, including working at heights or in confined spaces.
