Commercial Senior Finance Manager

Goodman Masson is partnering with an international investment bank to recruit a Commercial Senior Finance Manager into a small, commercially focused Finance team supporting a growing banking and capital markets business.

This is a broad role combining hands-on finance and accounting responsibilities with commercial business partnering and involvement in a significant pipeline of projects and new initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing financial insight, resolving issues and helping shape how new products, processes and business initiatives are delivered.

The role sits at the intersection of Finance and the wider business, with regular interaction across Front Office, Risk, Operations, Technology and other Finance teams. As the business continues to evolve internationally, there is considerable scope to get involved in new initiatives, business expansion and improvements to existing processes.

The role sits within a close-knit team with a strong team dynamic and genuinely social culture. The business offers an excellent working environment and work-life balance, with the position based in the City and operating on a three-day-a-week office arrangement.

Responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a key Finance contact for the business, responding to ad hoc queries and helping resolve issues across Finance and the wider organisation;
• Providing commercial and analytical support to senior stakeholders, helping them understand financial information and the implications of business decisions;
• Taking ownership of accounting and month-end responsibilities, including reviewing financial information, reconciliations, controls and reporting;
• Developing a strong understanding of the products, systems and processes relevant to the business and using this knowledge to identify and resolve issues;
• Supporting new products, business initiatives, migrations and process improvements, providing Finance input throughout the project lifecycle;
• Working with Finance, Front Office, Risk, Operations and Technology teams to investigate issues, improve processes and ensure effective implementation of new initiatives;
• Acting as a point of escalation for more complex accounting, reporting and business issues and coordinating their resolution with relevant stakeholders;
• Contributing to wider Finance projects and global initiatives as the business continues to develop;
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiency across the Finance function.

Key requirements:

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with at least 3 years' post-qualified experience;
• Strong hands-on accounting experience gained in house;
• Experience within financial services, with an interest in banking and capital markets;
• Commercially minded with the ability to understand the wider business rather than focusing solely on accounting outputs;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and develop practical solutions;
• Confident communicator who can work effectively with senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business;
• Self-motivated and intellectually curious, with the ability to take ownership and work independently in a fast-paced environment;
• Strong Excel skills and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
