We’re seeking a high-impact, customer-focused Director to help lead a Midlands-based regional Real Estate team (Birmingham office based). This strategic role blends senior relationship management and origination with line management of support colleagues, while balancing growth, risk and profitability in line with the organisation’s ambitions for the sector.
As Director, you’ll play a key role in developing ideas and solutions for clients across the built environment, including decarbonisation, investment, development and wider client needs. You’ll drive client-led origination and growth, nurture key relationships and represent the wider franchise in the market. This is an opportunity to further develop your marketing and relationship skills while maintaining strong discipline around risk, capital efficiency and returns. This is an SMCR-certified role; successful applicants will be required to complete the relevant training and achieve accreditation.
What you’ll be doing
- Client Relationship & Credit Stewardship: Lead senior Real Estate client relationships and oversee credit stewardship, identifying growth opportunities through deep client insight.
- Business Development & Market Engagement: Demonstrate a proven track record of winning and growing relationships. Drive growth through research, account planning and active representation at industry events. Partner closely with Structuring, Asset Management and specialist product teams to deliver high-quality solutions, ensuring risks are well managed and governance standards are upheld.
- Operational Excellence & Submission Quality: Maintain accurate sales and risk systems, producing clear, robust and high-quality credit and pricing submissions.
- Team Leadership & Strategic Support: As a senior leader within the team, provide direction and support to colleagues, champion performance and development, and contribute to broader Real Estate strategy and objectives.
- ESG & Regulatory Compliance: Support clients with ESG and Net Zero strategies while ensuring compliance with MiFID, Financial Promotions and FCA requirements.

What you’ll need
- Leadership in Financial Services: Demonstrable experience of leading and developing people, ideally within Corporate or Institutional Banking.
- Senior-Level Client Relationship Skills: Strong capability to build, manage and deepen relationships at C-suite level across FTSE-listed and large privately owned businesses.
- Real Estate Market Insight: A deep understanding of the UK Real Estate sector, including market dynamics, legislation and the role of government and regulation.
- Strategic & Credit Expertise: A strong analytical mindset with sound credit judgement and a track record of delivering successful, sustainable business strategies.
- Influential Communicator & Collaborator: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Regulatory & ESG Awareness: Working knowledge of MiFID, Financial Promotions and FCA standards, alongside a genuine commitment to supporting clients on their Net Zero journey.
