Goodman Masson are currently working with a London social housing organisation to recruit for an interim Disrepair Surveyor.
Pay – £250 – £350 per day INSIDE IR35
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive, professional surveying service, managing cases from inspection through to resolution. This includes investigating building defects, preparing detailed specifications, overseeing works on site, and liaising with residents, legal teams, contractors and internal stakeholders. You will manage a varied caseload, supervise operatives and contractors, attend court when required, and ensure all works are delivered safely, compliantly, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, diagnose defects and prepare specifications, estimates and reports
- Manage disrepair, insurance and structural repair cases from start to finish
- Liaise with residents, legal representatives, contractors and internal teams
- Monitor works on site, ensuring quality, safety and compliance with legislation and contracts
- Prepare documentation, respond to complaints and provide expert technical advice
- Supervise staff and contractors, addressing performance issues where necessary
- Attend court and provide technical evidence when required
About You
You will be an experienced Surveyor with:
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance, construction and disrepair legislation
- Experience managing complex disrepair and insurance-related cases
- Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving and report writing skills
- A confident communicator, able to deal sensitively with residents and stakeholders
- Experience supervising staff and managing contractor performance
- A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage a busy workload independently
You will ideally hold an HNC, degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
