Goodman Masson are currently working with a London social housing organisation to recruit for an interim Fire Risk Assessor. Pay – £250 – £350 per day INSIDE IR35.

About the Role

As a Fire Risk Assessor, you’ll carry out detailed inspections and produce high-quality reports that ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and other relevant legislation. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across Housing, Asset Management, and Compliance to deliver a proactive, risk-based approach to fire safety.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and documenting Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
  • Completing person‑centred FRAs and supporting vulnerable residents where needed.
  • Ensuring all assessments are delivered to agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Collaborating with housing and fire authorities on hoarding and other safety concerns.
  • Quality‑assuring the work of staff, contractors, and consultants involved in fire safety activities.
  • Supporting new build projects through fire safety reviews of plans, Reg 38 documentation, and site visits.
  • Providing fire safety training and awareness sessions for staff and residents.
  • Assisting in Fire & Rescue Service audits and investigations into fires or false alarms.
  • Maintaining professional competence through ongoing CPD.

About You

You’ll be a qualified and confident Fire Risk Assessor with excellent communication and analytical skills, capable of providing sound, evidence‑based recommendations to reduce risk and ensure compliance.

Essential:

  • Recognised fire risk assessment qualification (e.g. FPA, FIA, NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Proven experience conducting FRAs within a housing or property management environment.
  • Strong understanding of fire safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent report writing, auditing, and inspection skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities, with the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to high standards of customer care and resident safety.

Desirable:

  • Accreditation with a recognised professional register (e.g. IFSM, IFE, FRACS).
  • Previous experience in housing, estates, or property maintenance related to fire safety.
