The Role
We are working with an established housing provider to appoint an experienced Group Fire Safety Manager to take a lead role in the organisation’s approach to fire safety.
This is a senior position within the Building and Fire Safety function, with responsibility for providing technical leadership, managing a specialist team and ensuring fire safety arrangements remain robust across a large property portfolio.
You will work closely with senior leaders, asset management, development, repairs and external partners to identify risks, strengthen compliance and continually improve fire safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the organisation’s Fire Risk Assessment programme, ensuring actions are effectively managed through to completion.
- Provide technical advice on fire safety legislation, regulations and best practice across the organisation.
- Ensure statutory inspections and fire safety checks, including fire door inspections, are completed within required timescales.
- Oversee fire safety audits, incident investigations and relevant statutory reporting.
- Develop and review fire safety policies, procedures, strategies and guidance.
- Produce management information and reports for senior leadership and governance groups.
- Deliver fire safety training, briefings and guidance to colleagues.
- Work closely with Asset Management, Development and Repairs teams to ensure fire safety is embedded across projects and property management.
- Manage relationships with contractors, consultants, regulators and external stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a small team of Fire Safety professionals.
- Deputise for the Head of Building Safety when required.
About You
- Significant experience within fire safety, ideally gained within social housing.
- Strong knowledge of current fire safety legislation, guidance and standards.
- Experience overseeing Fire Risk Assessment programmes and managing associated actions.
- Previous experience managing or developing a specialist team.
- Experience managing external consultants and contractors.
- Strong analytical, reporting and IT skills, including Excel and compliance databases.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- A relevant Fire Safety qualification, such as NEBOSH Fire, Fire Safety Diploma or equivalent.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IFE or IFSM is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
