This isn’t a standard Corporate Tax Manager role. This is succession planning done right. We’re hiring an ambitious Corporate Tax Manager, initially sitting between our Audit team and our Corporate Tax Partner. Not just to support, but to share in complex advisory work, shape how we deliver Corporate Tax services, and help build a function with a clear pathway to Director and Partnership.
For the right person, this role offers genuine long-term progression in a firm with a strong track record of promoting internally all the way to Partnership.
Why This Role Exists
Graeme, our Corporate Tax Partner, describes it perfectly: “Picture a Venn diagram — the Audit team’s corporate tax work on one side, my complex advisory work on the other. This role sits right in the middle.” What makes this role truly different is the succession-planning element.
Over the next few years, you will:
- Share responsibility for complex advisory and high-value projects
- Build strong relationships with existing clients
- Develop your own portfolio of advisory work as the Corporate Tax offering grows
- Help shape how we deliver Corporate Tax services
- Support the growth and development of the Corporate Tax team as the service line expands
You won’t be maintaining a function . . . you’ll be instrumental in continuing to build it. This role also supports the firm’s mission to ensure our people, our clients and our industry flourish over the long term, through thoughtful growth, high-quality advisory work and a commitment to progressing talent from within.
If you’re ambitious, future-focused and want a role with real influence, this is the strategic move that takes you forward, not sideways.
The Work
You’ll work directly with Graeme on complex, high-value advisory projects, while supporting our 50+ person Audit team with technical insights and oversight. You’ll get involved in:
- Advisory & Complex Compliance: Group restructures and reorganisations, international tax matters, transaction advisory (acquisitions, disposals, MBOs, EOTs), SSE, capital allowances, loss utilisation and group relief as well as strategic tax planning for growing businesses
- Audit Team Collaboration: Providing corporate tax insights during engagements, attending planning meetings, reviewing tax-sensitive elements of financial statements and delivering proactive guidance and training to audit colleagues
- Corporate Structuring & Transactions: Advising on tax-efficient structuring, whilst supporting due diligence and navigating intangible assets and goodwill treatment
- International Tax: CFC rules and overseas structuring, double tax relief and treaty claims as well as permanent establishment risk assessments
- Tax Risk Management: HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures, CIR and SAO compliance and tax governance and risk mitigation strategies
- Capital Allowances & Incentives: Identifying and optimising claims, SSE applications and full expensing and AIA planning
- Client Interaction: Act as a trusted adviser, building relationships with existing clients while steadily developing your own corporate tax advisory portfolio.
- Process Improvement & Training: Streamlining tax advisory processes, enhancing audit/tax collaboration and up-skilling colleagues
- Team Development: As the service line grows, contribute to developing, coaching, and mentoring future team members.
About You
You’re probably not unhappy where you are, but you’re ready for something more: more progression, more ownership, more autonomy, and the chance to shape a function. You’ll likely be:
- CTA qualified
- An experienced Tax Manager with strong corporate tax advisory experience
- Confident in group structures, transactions, and international tax
- Experienced in reviewing work and supporting junior team members
- Comfortable developing client relationships and growing your own advisory portfolio over time
- Able to communicate complex tax issues clearly and confidently
- Ambitious, curious and motivated by long-term progression
Desirable:
- CTA + ACA/ACCA
- Experience with PFI accounts or pension buy-ins
Additional Information
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000k
Hours: full time, 35 per week
Location: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)
Progression: Clear pathway to Director and Partnership
