Where audit meets innovation. And where you'll help shape the future of how we work. This is a brand-new role at Goodman Jones, created as part of our continued growth. Our Audit & Accounts team is now over 50 people strong, the largest department in the firm. As the team grows, so does the need to ensure that our systems, workflows, training and digital capability evolve in a thoughtful, scalable and future-focused way.
You’d be stepping into this new role supporting the firm’s growth in line with our mission to ensure our people, our clients and our industry flourish over the long term. A key part of supporting that flourishing is embracing the audit technology, digital tools and intelligent efficiencies shaping the profession, including the thoughtful, safe and purposeful use of automation and AI. This is where you come in. Your work will help teams work smarter, give clients greater clarity and quality, and ensure our audit processes continue to evolve in ways that are sustainable and future fit.
You’re probably not unhappy in your current role, but you’re keeping an eye out for something that truly uses your energy, insight and genuine passion for innovation, audit technology and intelligent automation. You’ve spent most of your career in audit, but you’ve always gravitated towards the tools, workflows and smarter ways of working that make audits better. You understand the impact of using audit technology properly, how it transforms efficiency, clarity and consistency, and the idea of stepping into a role where that is your entire focus feels like the natural next step. You can see where technology can take the profession, and you’re ready to help shape that journey.
At Goodman Jones LLP, we blend professionalism with a personable, people-first approach. Established in 1934, we are a 12 Partner top60 independent accountancy practice with a diverse client base, including UK owner-managed businesses, international subsidiaries, charities and start-ups. We provide a full range of compliance, advisory and support services. This is a genuinely exciting time to be part of the firm. We’ve recently moved into our new modern, open-plan loft-style office space in Fitzrovia, launched a new careers section on our website, and expanded our People Team to support the continued development of everyone within the practice.
Our Partners and team of more than 90 professionals are united by our core values: Excellence and Efficiency, Ownership and Responsibility, Personal Development, Teamwork, Good Ethics and Professionalism, and Client Focus.
Here’s what you’ll get to do:
- Sit at the heart of our largest team
- You’ll work closely with:
- The Audit Leadership team, shaping how the team uses systems, learns and delivers
- The IT Team, ensuring tools, workflows and automation align and function effectively
- The People Team, formalising structured training, onboarding and digital capability building
Lead the Technology and Training Agenda. What this looks like:
- Optimising and embedding our core systems: CaseWare Cloud, CCH, Trullion, MSDynamics workflows, iManage and Microsoft 365
- Designing digital best practice: workflows, templates, guidance and training resources
- Delivering structured training and onboarding across all levels
- Strengthening digital confidence across the department
- Supporting the safe, practical rollout of audit technology, automation and AI-enabled processes
- Testing, refining and championing opportunities for smarter, more efficient working
- Acting as the link between Audit, IT, People and external software vendors
This is fundamentally a systems, optimisation and training role, not a client-delivery position.
Who will thrive in this role:
- You’ll likely be currently in an audit role, working at either Assistant Manager, Manager or Senior Manager level, qualified ACA or ACCA, and bringing the technical grounding and credibility that comes from several years in an accountancy practice.
- More importantly, you’re the person who:
- Colleagues turn to when systems aren’t working
- Notices better ways to structure a workflow
- Experiments with new features and automation because it interests you
- Builds templates or improves processes because it benefits the team
- Feels energised rather than threatened by AI and digital transformation
- Enjoys explaining tools and making technology feel simple
- Can translate complex audit methodology into clear, practical digital workflows
- Thinks not just about what needs doing, but how it could be done smarter
Experience:
- CaseWare Cloud or similar audit platforms
- Familiarity with Trullion, DataSnipper or other AI-enabled tools
- A track record of delivering internal training or supporting systems rollouts
- Involvement in methodology, quality or process-improvement initiatives
- Confidence contributing to innovation or digital-transformation projects
Additional information:
- Salary: £63,000 to £72,000 (full time)
- Hours: Open to part time at 21 hours (3 days) per week, or full time at 35 hours (5 days) per week
- Location: Hybrid
At three days per week, your focus will be on core systems optimisation, audit technology and technical training. At five days per week, the role would expand to include additional training delivery and support for quality and methodology initiatives.
