GoodGym is looking for a Communications and Marketing Executive to join us on a four-month contract — and help more people across the UK discover how good doing good can feel. GoodGym brings people together to get fit by doing good: supporting older people, strengthening communities and creating real social connection. It’s a simple idea with a big impact — and we want you to share it far and wide.

In this role, you’ll help take GoodGym’s work to a national audience. You’ll meet inspiring people doing extraordinary things and help tell their stories in a way that sparks action. You’ll shape how our purpose-driven, joyful brand shows up in the world and help tens of thousands of people find their way into the GoodGym community each year. This is a chance to use your communications and marketing skills for something that genuinely matters, and to be part of this incredible community.

Main responsibilities

  • Member recruitment: You will be responsible for planning and implementing an increase in membership by promoting awareness of GoodGym as an easy, convenient and rewarding way of volunteering and getting fit.
  • Finding and telling stories: You will work alongside the GoodGym community, our partners and older people to identify and uncover stories which can be used across our various marketing and comms channels. You will be in regular weekly contact with GoodGymers on the phone and in person.
  • Comms channels management: You will lead the organisation of our scheduled communication channels.
  • Social media and social media advertising: You will be responsible for planning, managing and producing content for TikTok, Facebook and Instagram; targeting them appropriately to areas that need more participants.
  • National awareness and PR: You will setup and manage publicity events and material to increase awareness of our work.
  • Brand partnerships: You will work closely with our brand partners to maximise opportunities and to ensure we are supporting their goals for the partnership.
  • Local support: You will provide marketing collateral for local areas to promote their sessions and manage a national resource pack.

Person specification

  • Past experience of working in a communications or marketing role, preferably in a lead or senior position.
  • Experience of writing for different audiences for a variety of different media.
  • An understanding of, and a confident user of, a wide range of social media including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
  • An understanding and use of paid marketing including Google Adwords and Meta ads.
  • A proven record of creating content with high levels of engagement.
  • A keen eye for detail and high level of accuracy, with a commitment to quality.
  • The ability to translate a marketing strategy into deliverable actions.
  • Data driven: the ability to measure the impact of all communication and to test and learn in order to improve.
  • The ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • A willingness to be part of and get to know the GoodGym community inside out.
  • The ability to find great stories, interview people and write them up for a broad audience.
  • A high degree of personal motivation, including the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to form and develop good working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.

Other requirements

  • Available to work from our London office on a flexible basis, with a minimum of one day a week.
  • The ability to work flexible hours when needed in order to attend GoodGym sessions which mostly happen on weekday evenings.

This is a hybrid role and will require weekly working from our office in London. You should be comfortable working from our office in Chancery Lane. Exact days to be discussed and agreed at interview. Being able to authentically tell the stories of the GoodGym community is vital to this role. We require the post holder to be available to attend GoodGym sessions in order to be aware of, and capture, what we do.
