Central Birmingham (with periodic travel to manufacturing sites) | Permanent | 3–5 days per week (flexible) | Competitive salary
Goodfish Group is a precision manufacturing business with four UK sites, approximately 145 employees and three freehold manufacturing facilities. The Group has grown through acquisition and expects to continue doing so. Each acquisition typically brings freehold or leasehold industrial property with it, and the holding company now has a portfolio that warrants dedicated in-house expertise. To date, property matters have been handled ad hoc using external advisors. We’re bringing this expertise in-house.
The Head of Property will provide property due diligence on acquisitions, manage and enhance the existing portfolio, ensure our leasehold arrangements are efficient, and work with our regional Heads of Maintenance on utility procurement and compliance. The role reports directly to the Chief Executive from the central Birmingham head office of the holding company.
What you will do:
- Provide property due diligence on prospective acquisitions, including valuations, condition assessments, lease review and risk identification.
- Manage and enhance a multi-site freehold and leasehold industrial property portfolio.
- Lead property capital projects: fit-outs, refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades.
- Manage intra-group property arrangements between the holding company and operating businesses.
- Oversee utility procurement and compliance with schemes including CCA, EII, and NCC.
- Build the holding company’s network of property advisors, surveyors and planning consultants.
What we are looking for:
- Experience in commercial or industrial property management: acquisitions, disposals, lease negotiations and capital projects.
- Experience or interest in property due diligence and advising on the property aspects of business acquisitions.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to negotiate effectively with landlords, suppliers, and advisors.
- Comfort with autonomy: this is a lean, owner-managed business where senior people own their brief completely.
What makes this role distinctive:
This is an acquisitive industrial group that keeps acquiring property as a consequence of acquiring businesses. We’ve reached the point where we need someone in-house who knows what they’re looking at. You will work directly with the Chief Executive. The role grows as the Group grows and we offer flexibility on working pattern — three to five days per week.
