The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Frontend Developer with solid experience in JavaScript frameworks, component-driven development and utility-first CSS. You will be a UX first developer taking pride in clean frontend solutions, thorough documentation and pixel-perfect implementation. This is a role for someone who cares about user experience and conversion as a core requirement (not an afterthought), understands the value of design systems and can work independently while collaborating effectively with designers and other developers.
You will be comfortable working with Adobe Commerce (Magento) and WordPress, but also ideally experienced with more modern frameworks such as headless solutions using NuxtJS or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development of improvements and new features on the company websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js, Nuxt.js) using Adobe Commerce or possibly other systems where necessary.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to transform wireframes and mockups into pixel-perfect, functional pieces. Implement user interfaces and interactivity while ensuring optimal performance.
- Collaborate with backend developers to integrate APIs and optimise data-driven functionality within the frontend of web applications.
- Conduct thorough testing of application functionality and appearance across various browsers, devices, and resolutions to ensure a consistent and seamless user experience.
- Follow best practices and industry standards for frontend development, adhering to W3C standards and guidelines for accessibility, performance, and security.
- Providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain high-quality code and contribute to the overall growth of the development team.
- Communicate effectively with managers and other team members, demonstrating a strong understanding of project objectives and effectively prioritising work to meet deadlines.
Key Requirements
- Proven commercial experience (2+ years) as a Frontend Developer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in HTML, CSS (SASS, LESS, Tailwind), and JavaScript.
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js, NuxtJs) and other libraries (e.g., Bootstrap, Material UI).
- Knowledge of responsive design principles and experience building web applications that function effectively across various devices and resolutions.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), task runners (e.g., Gulp, Grunt), and build tools.
- Understanding of web accessibility, SEO, and performance optimisation best practices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work within a team environment.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality of work.
Key Expectations
- Report to the Ecommerce Manager with any observations or improvements as discovered.
- Daily stand ups.
- Delivery within sprints.
- Ticket creation and able to work on own initiative when required.
- Take ownership of any work undertaken.
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
- 22 days Annual Leave rising to 25 days.
- Flexible working arrangements, where applicable, to support work-life balance.
- Enjoy company-funded private healthcare, giving you peace of mind and access to quality care. Please note that employees are responsible for any applicable tax.
- Generous company pension scheme with a 5% employer contribution to help you plan for a secure future.
- Comprehensive protection with Critical Illness and Life Assurance cover, giving you and your loved ones peace of mind.
- Company Sick Pay scheme available, inclusive of Statutory Sick Pay, to support you during periods of illness.
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for mental health and wellbeing support.
- Professional development opportunities, where applicable, including training and support for qualifications.
