We are seeking a Mental Health Paralegal to join our expanding Cambridge Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing cases, advocating for clients in various settings, and providing legal advice.
  • Reviewing medical disclosure and preparing for Tribunal hearings.
  • Attending court hearings, client meetings, and visits to hospitals, care homes, and other settings as required.
  • Drafting legal documents, witness statements, applications, and correspondence.
  • Preparing court bundles and conducting legal research.
  • Liaising with clients, family members, experts, healthcare professionals, and other third parties.
  • Managing aspects of your own caseload under appropriate supervision.
  • Assisting with Legal Aid applications and related funding matters.
  • Maintaining accurate file records and ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements.
  • Supporting departmental initiatives and contributing to the ongoing development of the team.

Essential:

  • A qualifying Law Degree (LLB) or SQE1 equivalent.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality written work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A professional, empathetic, and client-focused approach.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to travel for court hearings and client visits when required.
  • An interest in working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Previous paralegal experience or experience working with vulnerable client groups, health and social care services, or related environments would be advantageous.
  • The right to work in the UK on a long-term basis (please note that we are unable to accept applications from candidates requiring sponsorship or holding student or graduate visas).
