We are seeking a Mental Health Paralegal to join our expanding Cambridge Team.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing cases, advocating for clients in various settings, and providing legal advice.
- Reviewing medical disclosure and preparing for Tribunal hearings.
- Attending court hearings, client meetings, and visits to hospitals, care homes, and other settings as required.
- Drafting legal documents, witness statements, applications, and correspondence.
- Preparing court bundles and conducting legal research.
- Liaising with clients, family members, experts, healthcare professionals, and other third parties.
- Managing aspects of your own caseload under appropriate supervision.
- Assisting with Legal Aid applications and related funding matters.
- Maintaining accurate file records and ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements.
- Supporting departmental initiatives and contributing to the ongoing development of the team.
Essential:
- A qualifying Law Degree (LLB) or SQE1 equivalent.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality written work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional, empathetic, and client-focused approach.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to travel for court hearings and client visits when required.
- An interest in working with vulnerable individuals.
- Previous paralegal experience or experience working with vulnerable client groups, health and social care services, or related environments would be advantageous.
- The right to work in the UK on a long-term basis (please note that we are unable to accept applications from candidates requiring sponsorship or holding student or graduate visas).
