The Burn is a 20-bedroomed Mansion House, Listed Grade B belonging to Goodenough College. The estate consists of a beautiful woodland oasis, with the spectacular North Esk river running through a natural landscape. Although it operates mainly as an academic retreat for mostly international and Scottish university post-graduates, it is also hired out for private, family celebrations and offered as holiday accommodation. The Burn is seeking a practical, hands-on Property & Estate Manager to help care for our historic mansion, gardens and wider 200-acre estate in Glenesk, near Brechin. This varied role combines building maintenance, gardens and grounds, contractor supervision, compliance, health and safety, and emergency response. We are looking for someone who is flexible, resourceful and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the smooth day-to-day running of the estate. You will be comfortable moving between planned maintenance, practical outdoor work, guest and event support, routine checks and unexpected issues, while working closely with a small, dedicated team. The role will include Carrying out practical building maintenance, routine inspections and minor repairs. Overseeing the care and presentation of the gardens, grounds and natural landscape. Coordinating contractors, compliance activity, records and a small delegated budget. Supporting colleagues with guest activities, events and wider estate priorities. Participating in the rota for out-of-hours fire and security response duties. About you You will bring broad practical estate, property or facilities experience, sound health and safety awareness, confidence using grounds-maintenance equipment, and the judgement to know when specialist support is required. Just as importantly, you will be collaborative, adaptable and ready to play an active part in estate life.
