The Goodenough Hotel, a 65-bedroom luxurious establishment in Bloomsbury, occupies a historic row of five Georgian townhouses. Owned by Goodenough College, the hotel plays an essential financial role in supporting the College's charitable mission for postgraduate international students.

The Hotel is looking for a Duty Manager to support the day-to-day running of our reception and act as deputy to the Operations Manager. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong presence at the front desk, ensuring that high standards of customer service are consistently delivered and that all Health & Safety procedures are followed.

You will be the first point of contact for guests, handling enquiries and complaints with professionalism and warmth, while also supporting and motivating the reception team. You will be responsible for training staff, implementing front office procedures, and leading efforts to maximise revenue through upselling and service excellence.

In this role, you will also be expected to provide portage for guests as the hotel is located in a listed building without lifts. You will manage bookings, assist with reservations during peak periods, and carry out administrative tasks such as preparing shift rosters. You will also contribute to service improvements, promote a One Team culture across the hotel and college, and take on responsibilities such as First Aider and Fire Marshall, with training provided.

We are seeking someone with proven senior receptionist/duty manager/team leader experience in a similar hospitality role, has excellent communication skills, and a calm, organised approach to a busy and varied environment. You should be confident using hotel booking systems such as Guestline or similar, flexible with working hours including night shifts, and committed to delivering exceptional service.

To apply, please send your CV accompanied with a paragraph telling us why you are applying to work with The Goodenough Hotel. Applicants must provide evidence of the right to live and work in the UK.

Goodenough College is committed to and proud of its equality of opportunity and diversity in employment. We welcome all applicants. If invited to interview, please let us know of any specific access requirements you may have.
