To provide a high-quality governance and compliance function to the Good Shepherd Trust.

  • Supporting the CEO in the delivery of governance and compliance services activities across the trust.
  • Providing clerking services to the Good Shepherd Trust board and its committees.

The post holder will contribute to the effectiveness of the Trust at the highest level, communicating within the Trust between Executive Headteachers, Head of School and Head Teachers, Local Governing Bodies, Trustees, and Members on behalf of the CEO.

You will lead on the Compliance and governance strands of the Good Shepherd Trust’s offer, by implementing and delivering an action plan to ensure its success.

  • Governance
  • Lead the governance and compliance strands of the Good Shepherd Trust offer.
  • Support the effectiveness of the board and committees, including oversight of clerkship, preparing papers and briefing governors.
  • Serve as administrative liaison and support for the Chair of Trustees, assisting Trustees, Members and Local Governing Bodies with arrangements, information and training as needed.

Including drafting key communications such as chairs reports, presentations for AGMs and Annual Reviews.

  • All bookings and other arrangements for meetings are in place (including drafting agendas and co-ordinating the timely submission of papers) and attend Trust Board and Committee Meetings as Clerk taking minutes and advising on procedure.
  • Maintain and update statutory books, required databases and records (including Companies House and Get Information About Schools) in respect of Trustees and Governors.
  • Administer the Trust’s systems and procedures in areas impacting governance such as: declarations of interest; gifts & hospitality and complaints.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in relationships with Trustees, Members and colleagues.
  • Maintain the core governance documents and support periodic review and updating of these including the Scheme of Delegation, Terms of Reference and Standing Orders and Risk Register.
  • Ensure all parts of the Good Shepherd Trust’s offer regarding governance and compliance are fulfilled.
  • Compliance
  • Maintain the Trust’s compliance tracking records, monitor and advise when action is needed.
  • Ensure all trust polices are current, compliant and effectively implemented
  • Monitor the accidents and near miss reports for appropriate follow up and reportable incidents.
  • Maintain the Trust’s recommendation tracker, monitor progress and ensure updated reports are provided and action is prompted as needed following audits and inspections.
  • Assume the function of Data Protection Officer in the fullness of time.
  • Maintain the Trust’s strategic risk register, co-ordinate the work across the Trust in relation to risk management and analyse this to inform the business of the Trust Board and Local Governing Bodies when drafting agendas.
  • Administrative Support
  • Provision of clerking, taking minutes and advising on procedure at Board and committee meetings.
  • Providing a professional and welcoming reception/gatekeeper service to visitors to the Central Team Offices.
  • Production of reports, presentation slides, meeting notes, letters and emails.
  • Arrange meetings and events.
  • Manage National Online Safety IT system and provide regular updates on it’s use.
  • Organising and maintaining reception office systems and supplies
  • Projects and initiatives related to the development of the Trust as they arise.
  • Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the level for the post, which may be required from time to time.
