Pattern of work: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm plus regular SMT back up on-call and out of hours responsibilities

The Head of Operations, Resources and Business Development is an exciting and challenging role which will complete the Senior Management Team at GSC in preparation for the next stage of our improvement and service development journey, to Keep The GSC Promise. You will have a lead role in promoting and upholding the vision and values of the GSC, working in partnership with young people, families, colleagues across the Centre and wider sector, and our Board of Directors (volunteer Trustees), to realise our ambitious plans for change and growth.

The Good Shepherd Centre (GSC) campus just outside Bishopton offers young people a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment set in fabulous grounds with a garden wildlife trail and outdoor sports facility. On-campus there are three secure care houses, a close support house & two cottages. Children and young people who live with us continue their education in our school, on campus, or attend further education out with the campus.

As Head of Operations, Resources and Business Development you will be a key member of the SMT and will have responsibility for ensuring the frameworks for effective workforce development and planning. You will lead on ensuring effective guidance, support, professional supervision, training, skills development and performance evaluation systems are maintained for all and any staff in every role.

You will drive workforce and resource planning and mapping and ensure that GSC operates in line with all relevant legislation and best practice guidance in relation to the safe staffing of our secure care and close support residential school care services.

The Head of Operations, Resources and Business Development heads all aspects of Operational functioning at GSC. They line manage the senior staff who lead our Finance, Facilities and Operations, Administration, Quality Assurance and service support functions. They are responsible (alongside the Director of Services) for ensuring that GSC has an effective set of Operational Policies across all areas of practice and operations including having a lead role with Health and Safety and ICT and Information Management policies.

The successful candidate will promote and model a positive, compassionate, strengths and relational based approach to all aspects of their work. They will encourage a culture and climate of ‘whole centre community’, where the dignity, needs and rights of the individual are respected at all times.

You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
