We have 180 years of history and are proud to represent several premium brands and leading wineries from around the world as well as our own portfolio of Spanish and Chilean wines and spirits. We have a dedicated and passionate team of 25 people in the UK with strong sales in both the on and off trade sectors. Following an internal restructure, we have a vacancy for a Senior Business Manager to manage and develop several important off trade accounts.
Main Purpose of role:
- Build excellent commercial relationships within the designated customer base specifically off trade large supermarkets.
- Win new business through in‑person contact, competent pitches and in‑depth knowledge of portfolio.
- Maximise the distribution of company products in line with agreed annual objectives in designated accounts.
- Focus on achieving new points of distribution for the Gonzalez Byass wine and agency brands.
- Maximise sales of company products in accounts with full responsibility to achieve volume and financial contribution targets in line with budget.
- Produce well planned customer forecasts and opportunities across the designated accounts with detailed account plans.
- Monitor and evaluate performance against plans through strong KPI analysis.
- Adjust pipeline and plans on an ongoing basis to ensure success against targeted business.
- Work with the customer and marketing team to produce cost‑effective promotional activities to meet objectives, in line with brand strategy.
- Build strong account development plans which ensure the customer is fully engaged with all our brands and our latest brand strategies.
- Operate within agreed budget levels controlling fees, promotional spend, retrospective discounts and cost of goods.
- Work collaboratively across the Gonzalez Byass UK team to deliver a great customer experience and maintain our culture.
- Complete all account records/files, ongoing, in accordance with Standards of Performance.
- Be fully aware of the latest competitor information with great plans to protect our own brands.
Experience and competencies:
- Educated to at least WSET level 3 but preferably to WSET Diploma level.
- Demonstrates a real passion for wine and the wine industry.
- Experience and evidence of having grown business in multiple grocers.
- Excellent ability to influence and persuade decision makers through strong relationships.
- Able to compile proposals with good numerical skills.
- Evidence of working collaboratively across a business.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel both nationally and overseas.
- A Leeds/Manchester home base would be beneficial.
