Axiom Hospitality is one of the UK's fastest-growing hotel management companies – and we're not slowing down. In a few short years we've grown to over 40 hotels, partnering with some of the world's most recognised brands including Hilton, Marriott, IHG and Radisson. Through our partnership with Pyramid Global Hospitality, we're not only connected across the UK, but connected across the globe. That growth means something real for you. The people who join us now grow with us – and we have a strong track record of promoting from within. If you're looking for a job, we can offer you that. If you're looking for a career, we can offer you that too.

As our portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced, commercially minded and people-focused General Manager to lead The Gonville Hotel in Cambridge. Reporting directly to the Axiom Hospitality senior leadership team, this is a flagship role at one of Cambridge's most distinctive independent hotels. You will be the person who sets the tone – leading a talented team, driving commercial performance, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and embedding a culture that makes The Gonville a destination of choice for guests and a genuinely great place to work.

How You’ll Play Your Part

  • Lead the hotel's day‑to‑day operations across all departments, maintaining the highest standards of guest experience, team performance and service quality.
  • Drive commercial performance through effective revenue management, cost control, and P&L ownership – consistently meeting and exceeding budgeted targets.
  • Inspire, develop and retain a high‑performing team, creating a culture of accountability, recognition and genuine pride in the hotel.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with guests, corporate clients, local businesses and the wider Cambridge community.
  • Act as the face of The Gonville Hotel, representing the property with professionalism, warmth and ambition.
  • Oversee and support all heads of department to ensure consistent delivery across rooms, food and beverage, events and facilities.
  • Partner with Axiom's central support teams – including Sales, Finance, HR, Marketing and L&D – to align hotel activity with wider business objectives.
  • Lead on compliance, health and safety, and brand standards across the property.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for revenue growth, operational improvement and enhanced guest loyalty.
  • Champion sustainability and community engagement in line with Axiom's values and ESG commitments.

Who Thrives Here

We're growing and the people who thrive here are those who bring commercial acumen, genuine leadership and a real passion for hospitality. These are the behaviours that will help you thrive at Axiom:

  • Adaptability & resilience: You lead through change with composure.
  • Collaboration, communication & inclusion: You build genuine relationships.
  • Accountability & results: You bring a strong track record of hotel leadership and commercial delivery.
  • Talent development & team building: You are invested in the growth of your team.
  • Ethics, integrity & values: You lead by example in everything you do.
  • Innovation & continuous improvement: You bring ideas and foster curiosity in those around you.

The Perks of Going Further

  • A world of hotel stays through our partnership with Pyramid Global Hospitality.
  • The Axiom Xcape: enjoy a complimentary stayover of up to two nights after your first full year with us.
  • Awards that actually mean something, including our annual Axiom Awards.
  • Refer a friend — earn up to £500 if they join.
  • Access your earned pay before payday with Stream.
  • 28 to 33 days holiday, starting at 28 days including bank holidays.
  • Free meals on shift.
  • Wellbeing support through our Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Length of service awards recognised at 1, 3, 5, 10 and 20 years.

As we grow, so do the opportunities around you. For the right General Manager, this role is a platform – not just to lead a great hotel, but to grow with one of the UK's most ambitious hospitality businesses. Whether your ambition is to take on a larger property, move into a regional or portfolio role, or help shape how Axiom operates at scale – we'll support you with structured development, clear progression pathways and a culture that genuinely promotes from within.

Built for Everyone

Our hotels strive to be active members of their local communities, supporting local charities and leaving a positive impact on their neighbourhoods.
