Job overview
The Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics comprises an enthusiastic and highly motivated team of consultants, providing a variety of subspecialties as well as general orthopaedic and trauma services. We pride ourselves on our consultant-led acute trauma management and elective orthopaedics. With the opening of our new state-of-the-art theatres in December 2023, we plan to expand to 20 orthopaedic consultants, enhancing our elective theatre service to serve more patients and reduce waiting times. This growth presents an opportunity for a new hand and wrist surgeon to join the department. The job plan includes clinic and theatre sessions at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw District General Hospital, and Mexborough Montagu Hospital.
The ideal candidate will have a dynamic personality, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an interest in acute care, and a desire to develop the hand and wrist service within the orthopaedic department.
Main duties of the job
- Maintain and support the development of elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery, working as a key member of the team.
- Provide a comprehensive service for hand and wrist pathology.
- Expand current elective hand and wrist activity.
- Participate in clinical governance activities and teaching.
