Golf Holdings Ltd is seeking a motivated Analyst/Programmer to join our IT team. You’ll play a key role in supporting and developing business‑critical systems that underpin our retail, hospitality and wholesale operations.

Our core systems run on the highly reliable IBM i platform (formerly AS400/iSeries), with bespoke applications developed in RPG. The hardware is used by over 150,000 global companies including approximately 16,000 banks and is renowned for stability, security and scalability. While RPG experience is beneficial, we welcome candidates with strong programming ability and a willingness to learn. Full training will be provided as required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills in a stable, business‑focused IT environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance existing bespoke business applications
  • Support retail, hospitality, wholesale and ERP/finance systems
  • Contribute to digital forensics activities when required
  • Perform database maintenance and system monitoring
  • Provide technical support to users (remote and on‑site)
  • Any other duties relevant and related to this post

  • Educated to third level education

About you

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience in testing data, programs, and processes
  • Ability to adapt and use new technologies
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Desirable:

  • RPG programming experience
  • Software troubleshooting experience
  • Warehousing / Retail / EPOS software familiarities
  • ERP & Finance systems experience
  • Solid understanding of network architectures and protocols
  • Windows Server experience

  • A proven ability to communicate with users at all levels in an organisation
  • Work unsupervised, prioritising work based on business impact
  • ‘Can-do’ attitude with a determination to see the job through to resolution

  • Internal contacts covering all areas of business dealing with IT
  • External software suppliers eg. EPOS, ERP
  • IT network support suppliers

Other relevant information

  • Current driver’s licence
  • Office based (Belfast)
  • Core hours of work will be 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday with some degree of flexibility required
  • Annual leave cover must be co‑ordinated between other members of the IT Department
