About the Role

The Service Support Assistant role is part of the wider Business Support Service and involves completing tasks on various information and finance management systems within given timescales, improving data quality with a high standard of attention to detail, and following agreed procedures. The role also expects the candidate to receive visitors, respond to and screen telephone calls, emails and other enquiries, thereby providing high‑level customer care. The successful applicant will produce letters, reports, emails, minutes, spreadsheets and presentations to a professional standard, maintain diaries, make appointments and arrange meetings, and manage a busy incoming and outgoing workload. They will record, track, progress and prioritise work, using initiative to resolve non‑complex queries and problems. As part of the wider team, the role also requires providing back‑up to colleagues across service areas and assisting with urgent work on a day‑to‑day basis.

About You

  • Recognised academic qualifications such as GCSEs, A Levels, Vocational Qualifications, Professional/Further Education Qualifications, NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent, or an equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • Good computer skills, including a good understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to use spreadsheets and perform basic data analysis and to establish and maintain manual and electronic admin systems.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills that allow prioritising your own workload and working under minimal supervision while maintaining a flexible approach.
  • Good written and oral communication skills with experience providing excellent customer care.
  • Able to produce accurate work to deadlines and work effectively as a team member.
  • Full understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and experience working with sensitive information.
  • Evidence of numeracy and statistical analysis skills, including experience working with financial information or in a financial setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services that meet the needs of all residents.
