Do you enjoy working with people and looking after the environment? Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit Reuse & Waste Recycling Operatives at its Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS). Candidates must be self-motivated, hard-working, willing to learn and have good customer care skills.

About the Role

Successful candidates will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and charging residents for their chargeable waste, assisting members of the public in the safe disposal of their waste, and delivering a high-quality service under challenging financial times. Available role(s) are primarily located at the following RHWS:

  • 1 x Coalville RHWS
  • 2 x Lount RHWS
  • 1 x Lutterworth RHWS

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • A good understanding of Waste Health & Safety, along with a basic working knowledge of waste disposal and treatment and basic knowledge of waste operations (HWFC WTS).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to handle all customers in a polite and professional manner, along with a willingness to be flexible, learn and take on new tasks.
  • The ability to converse with ease with customers and provide advice and information in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
  • Ability to travel to locations across the county as required.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) along with basic IT skills.
  • Competent to operate fixed and mobile plant.
  • Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities and must be able to perform all tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
