About the roles - As a Public Realm Operative, you will deliver frontline waste, cleansing and environmental services across the city. The role involves carrying out a range of duties such as street cleansing, fly tip removal and neighbourhood maintenance, working flexibly to meet operational needs. You will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and well‑presented environment, providing a reliable and customer‑focused service in all weather conditions.
We are recruiting for a number of roles to support extended hours within Street Cleansing, the Bulky Waste Service, and dedicated City Centre operations. These posts operate across a range of shift patterns, including:
- Monday to Friday: 14:00 – 22:00
- Wednesday to Sunday: Wednesday to Friday: 14:00 – 22:00
- Saturday and Sunday: 09:00 – 17:00
- City Centre roles (x2): 4 on / 4 off shift pattern 14:00pm - 01:00am
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in waste, cleansing, environmental or manual outdoor work
- Knowledge of health and safety, safe working practices and vehicle operations
- Ability to work as part of a team, use initiative and follow instructions
- Good communication skills and commitment to high standards of customer care
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as part of an extended service
- Willingness to work across different services and operational areas as required
