Overview

  • Organisation: Leicestershire County Council
  • Salary: £25,191 - £25,590 per annum (PPO rata for part time) (£13.05 - £13.25 per hour) plus an enhancement for working nights
  • Working Hours: 1 x 35 post per week (Must be able to work flexibly and participate in a staff rota that incorporates working weekends and bank holidays between the hours of 21.00 and 7.00)

About the Organization and Opportunity

Our friendly team at Melton Short Breaks & Supported Living Services are looking for 1 Night care assistant (1 x 35-hour post) on a fixed term basis for 6 months to join our team. Melton Short Breaks & Supported Living Services is a purpose-built short break centre, alongside 5 supported living bungalows, providing respite and supported living care for adults with learning disability, Autism, Physical disabilities and Sensory impairments. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work as part of our team, to provide person centred care. The Role

We are looking for people who can help us to deliver high quality care and support to adults with learning differences (disability) in our Supported Living Service. You will deliver night care, providing assistance with personal care, promoting choice and control alongside maximising independence. You don’t need to have any previous formal experience in care, we are interested in people who share our values to join our committed team and celebrate individuality and diversity. We will provide the training needed (in work-time) and have a team behind you to mentor, coach and support your journey. You will work in accordance with Leicestershire County Council’s Employee Code of Conduct, Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers. We will meet the training costs and the DBS enhanced check (Adults Barred List) for a regulated activity required for this post.

Qualifications and Requirements

To apply for this post, you must be able to meet all of the following:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality care and support which maximises independence, is anti-discriminatory, and adheres to relevant regulations and procedures (such as Adult Safeguarding and Valuing People Now).
  • The ability to use available equipment to assist with moving and handling service users and to support people with complex needs.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to engage with service users who may use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, picture boards, signs).
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, responding effectively to crisis situations.
  • IT and written skills sufficient to write and maintain clear, concise records.
  • You must also be willing to train to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent (training provided) if not already obtained, along with willingness to train in Moving and Handling and other mandatory courses.
  • Be responsive to meet the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including being able to work flexibly and participate in a staff rota that incorporates working weekends and bank holidays, and be willing to attend meetings or training outside of normal working hours.
