*Job Overview*
We are seeking an experienced Plant/HGV Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and assembling a variety of heavy plant machinery and commercial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure our equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Service, maintain, and repair plant machinery and recycling equipment * Work on shredders, shears, scrap handlers, hammer mills, generators, and related vehicles and machinery * Diagnose faults using technical documents and schematics * Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records * Work efficiently to meet deadlines and operational priorities * Follow all health & safety procedures and company guidelines
Essential Requirements
* NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 minimum * Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Plant Fitter * Full manual driving licence essential (HGV licence advantageous) * Own toolbox and tools required * Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills * Experience working on heavy plant and recycling equipment preferred

Please note that this is not a workshop-only position. The role requires hands-on maintenance and repair work across our operational sites, often outdoors in all weather conditions. Candidates must be comfortable working in a dirty and physically demanding environment typical of the metal recycling industry.
