We are seeking a self-motivated, highly organised, and personable Membership Engagement & Events Co-ordinator to join our friendly team. This is a customer-facing position supporting the delivery of a varied portfolio of membership events, from high-end luxury dining to induction programmes, that engage our 1,500-strong UK-wide membership, many of whom volunteer their time to the Goldsmiths’ Company.
You will join a team of three in the Membership Department, reporting to the Membership Events Manager. The team leads the Membership Strategy, covering recruitment and progression, engagement, events, and communications.
You will provide essential administrative support for a busy, year-round programme of events and activities, ensuring smooth operations and accurate record-keeping across multiple systems while delivering an excellent experience for our members. You will also support the Membership Administrator with new member applications and member progression.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing records in the members’ portal and CRM, preparing guest lists and invitations, and coordinating activities such as Goldsmiths’ Giving (our members’ fundraising platform), and member events.
- Delivering day-to-day administrative tasks to assist with planning and coordination of membership events and general administration, monitoring inboxes, and managing responses.
- Maintaining accurate records in the members’ portal and CRM, including Goldsmiths’ Giving and event attendance.
- Working closely with colleagues across the Goldsmiths’ Company to support event delivery.
- Using platforms including the members’ portal, CRM, Word, Excel, Teams, and Zoom to manage events and engagement.
- Providing front-of-house assistance during member events, including evening events.
Required skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, delivering exceptional client service.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and record-keeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using CRM systems (knowledge of Beacon CRM is an advantage).
- Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and flexible under pressure while supporting multiple events.
- Previous experience providing administrative support for events is essential.
- Proactive and organised – takes initiative, prioritises effectively, and manages a busy workload without constant supervision.
- Customer-focused – cares about delivering excellent service and enjoys meeting and engaging with people.
- Collaborative – works well across teams, including remote collaboration, and values shared goals.
- Adaptable and flexible – adjusts to changing priorities and supports evening events as required.
- Interest in heritage, arts, crafts, and making – desirable but not essential.
You will have to work out of normal office hours to support around 10-15 membership events in the year – some of which will be outside of London. These events run into the evening, and you will be expected to stay until 7.30pm. You will be responsible for managing your contractual hours in consideration of evening work (through time off in lieu).
