The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm’s credit, market, liquidity, operational and capital risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm’s counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm’s success. Role Overview: This role combines independent second-line oversight with a strong advisory mandate, partnering with Asset Management business leaders to provide practical, risk-based guidance that supports sound decision-making and strategic growth. A strong understanding of the business and operational risk framework, combined with analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted operational risk advisor to Asset Management stakeholders, providing practical guidance on risk implications, control enhancement opportunities, and risk-informed business decision-making.
- Oversee the operational risk framework within the second line of defense working closely with the first line whilst operating in an advisory capacity and able to provide robust challenge.
- Facilitate operational risk event management framework and data collection, including the detailed reviews of significant events to ensure appropriate remediation plans are developed and implemented.
- Perform data analysis to identify themes and trends, and provide actionable risk insights to support business and management decision-making on material and emerging risks.
- Ensure risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) and tail scenario assessments remain accurate and reflective of the current risk profile through periodic and risk-based trigger reviews.
- Perform review and challenge of first line Risk and Control Assessment ratings to ensure an appropriate measurement approach has been employed with appropriate assessment rationale.
- Conduct scenario analysis by working with stakeholders to develop and quantify scenarios measuring tail risks used for stress testing and capital calculations.
- Contribute to the advancement of operational risk methods and practices and the operational risk management framework.
- Create Management reporting using Alteryx, Tableau, or other advanced data visualization tools. Develop clear, decision-oriented analysis and presentations for senior management, executive committees, and regulatory engagement, highlighting key risk insights and recommendations.
- Review and evaluate new business initiatives, expanded activity and firm acquisitions to identify and articulate changes to the operational risk profile of the division.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience working in either operational risk, or within Asset and Wealth Management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to present with impact and build consensus across senior stakeholder groups.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivery.
- Proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint – Alteryx is a plus.
- Quick learner who can thrive working as part of a cross-regional team and individually.
