Overview

Goldman Sachs is seeking an Analyst in the firm’s Government Sanctions Group. As part of the Global Compliance Division, the Government Sanctions Group ensures the firm’s compliance with sanctions programs administered by OFAC, OSFI, the European Union, and other relevant sanctions authorities globally. The ideal candidate will have strong time management, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, investigative skills, and the ability to collaborate within a team. The employee will assist in identifying sanctions risk across the firm’s lines of business and work with regional Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams to administer and oversee risk mitigation processes.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Investigation of alerts from the team’s day-to-day reference data and payment screening processes, ensuring smooth, prompt, and accurate execution
  • Providing advice on investigations of sanctions alerts arising from the firm’s transaction and reference data sanctions screening
  • Collaborating with business, operations, and technology divisions to collect information relevant to potential sanctions concerns and providing sanctions-related guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Conducting enhanced due diligence and related activities to mitigate sanctions risk
  • Ensuring metrics, deadlines, and record-keeping obligations established by management are met
  • Assisting in the development and enhancement of sanctions-related policies and procedures across the firm’s lines of business
  • Assisting in the collation of deliverables for internal/external audits
  • Drafting regulatory reports in relation to sanctioned assets
  • Enhancing and delivering sanctions training to Goldman Sachs employees

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priority projects and deliver high-quality results
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive projects to completion
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and aptitude for learning new systems
  • Team-oriented
  • Sanctions-related experience in financial services or relevant government agency/regulator
  • Sanctions-related qualification is desirable
  • Prior experience managing sanctions teams and workflows
