R&D is part of the Client Solutions Group (CSG) within Asset & Wealth Management (AWM). We are seeking a highly driven and detail‑oriented Associate to join our growing team in London. Alternatives Asset Management is a strategic growth area for our firm, representing a critical component of our long‑term vision and commitment to providing innovative investment solutions for our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and expanding area of AWM, developing market intelligence materials and creating financial models for new and existing products.
Principal Responsibilities
- Primary focus on alternatives product development and optimization of new and existing fund products working with a range of internal and external stakeholders across GS’s alternative investment strategies.
- Work on product solutions more broadly including tailored entry points into investment strategies to meet specific client needs such as assistance on insurance and retirement solutions.
- Manage workstreams and consult appropriately with stakeholders to determine appropriate structures, fund mechanics, and detailed fund terms.
- Once a fund is approved, provide detailed support to project management teams tasked with delivering the new fund to market.
- Market research into peer offerings and evaluation of forward‑looking perspectives from regulatory and investor‑demand angles.
- Financial modelling of fund platforms and structures including appropriate sensitivity analysis.
- Respond to internal questions from senior management, investment and salespeople across all sales channels (private wealth, institutional, third‑party distribution) related to the Alternatives platform and pipeline.
Skills & Experience We Are Looking For
- Excellent academic credentials including bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Accounting qualification (ACA, CA, etc.), CFA or other equivalent qualification preferred.
- Advanced Excel and financial/portfolio modelling skills.
- Practical knowledge of relevant fund legislation and regulation such as AIFMD, UCI Part II, ELTIF and LTAF in Europe.
- Detailed understanding of evergreen fund structures, relevant regulatory regimes as well as wider private markets product structures.
- Practical experience of private assets investment strategies including private debt, private equity, infrastructure and real estate.
- Pragmatic understanding of the legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, operational, liquidity, currency and distribution‑driven factors that are required to be able to develop efficient and scalable fund platforms and client solutions.
- Experience of highlighting efficiencies and making recommendations to improve processes and enhance performance.
- Experience of analysing and working on technical legal and regulatory documentation.
