As a primary investment area within Goldman Sachs, we provide investment services to capital providers such as pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, financial advisors and individuals. Goldman Sachs’ Private Credit team sits on the private side of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Private Credit is one of the world’s largest alternative credit investing platforms with investment professionals based in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. Private Credit originates investments and invests third‑party capital across senior secured loans, mezzanine/unsecured debt, preferred equity and opportunistic credit supporting buyouts led by Private Equity sponsors. The Private Credit team in Europe is a top tier platform in the European direct lending market and is consistently involved in the largest direct lending transactions.
VP/Ed’s in Private Credit work as part of small deal teams responsible for identifying, diligencing, structuring, executing and monitoring corporate debt investments. In Direct Lending, the team is involved in a wide range of high profile transactions across the capital structure (senior secured to junior debt capital) and in a variety of industries in support of transactions that include leveraged buy‑outs, take‑privates, add‑on acquisitions and recapitalisations, mostly for Private Equity backed businesses across mid‑market to large cap. The work is deal‑focused and exciting, and will bring you in contact with a wide range of businesses, industries, Private Equity clients, investment structures and products.
Responsibilities
- Originating investment ideas across the Direct Lending product suite via early engagement with relevant parties (e.g., financial sponsors / company management teams)
- Engaging in all aspects of due diligence and business analysis to develop and refine investment theses
- Participating in structuring, negotiating and documenting investments
- Communicating and defending investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees, including relevant Divisional and Firmwide Investment Committees
- Actively monitoring existing investments in the portfolio
- Building relationships with sponsors, management teams and internal GS stakeholders
Qualifications
- Investment Banking and Private Credit/Direct Lending candidate with 6 to 7 years experience
- Strong quantitative, financial modelling, analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to navigate M&A and financing processes, familiarity with financing documentation
- Passion for investing with specific interest in credit / other structured products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and creative mindset; ability to analyze a variety of industries and businesses
- Ability to self‑direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgments
- Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people
