Business Unit Overview

Collateral Management (Cleared and non-cleared), Portfolio Reconciliation, Margin Lending and Ready to Margin are part of Margin, Collateral Valuations Operations (MCVO) within Goldman Sachs Operations. The primary objective of the department is to mitigate counterparty credit risk through active monitoring of clients’ derivative, prime brokerage, GS execution & clearing, derivatives clearing and securities financing portfolios. Products supported include foreign exchange, commodities, credit, equity, interest rate, repo and bespoke structured derivatives. The team manages a wide range of complex processes, developing skills around derivative & security products, business areas, legal agreements, technology flows and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with professionals from Credit Risk Management, Legal and Compliance, Sales, Trading, Risk Management and other Operations Departments.
  • Identify and propose solutions to improve operations; demonstrate value to the team.
  • Monitor client portfolios daily, issuing and receiving collateral calls to mitigate firm’s credit risk.
  • Interact extensively with clients to resolve disputes, queries and perform new client onboarding.
  • Liaise with internal groups (Credit, Sales, Trading, Middle office, Legal, Front Office, Settlements, Corporate Treasury) to resolve collateral issues.
  • Reconcile portfolios and perform collateral optimization.
  • Perform monthly interest and coupon settlement.
  • Execute control functions ensuring process integrity.
  • Perform inter‑company margining, including NPV control validation and applying relevant regulations across jurisdictions.
  • Execute margin calculation, exception and collateral settlement approval processing, and SIMM calculations.

Qualifications

  • 2‑3 years of experience in identifying and proposing solutions and presenting them to management.
  • Willingness to dive into details to resolve operational and client‑specific issues.
  • Experience interacting with external clients and coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Adaptability to internal and external changes, including market conditions requiring immediate action.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including macros, vlookup and VBA.
