Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management (PWM) specializes in creating comprehensive wealth management plans for high net worth individuals and families, as well as select institutions, including foundations and endowments. PWM Teams work one-on-one with clients to advise and deliver customized strategies drawn from our deep investment experience, diverse wealth management capabilities and global reach.

Our Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) deliver an unparalleled investment platform inclusive of the full product and service offerings of Goldman Sachs and beyond, which may include tax and estate planning, philanthropic planning and private banking and lending services. As client needs evolve, this close relationship allows the team to offer complementary services and new opportunities by leveraging the resources of Goldman Sachs and beyond.

The Investment Strategy Group (ISG) within PWM has responsibility for strategic and tactical asset allocation views and advice for the firm’s high net worth clients and certain institutions. The Strategic and Quantitative Asset Allocation group (SQAA) within ISG provides comprehensive asset allocation advice to clients and manages innovative investment products that provide solutions for clients’ portfolios.

The role of an ISG member requires a broad set of qualities, including a passion for investing, client service, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.

The Strategic and Quantitative Asset Allocation group (SQAA) in ISG is seeking an individual with a strong background in Private Assets to deliver high quality research to help clients with allocation advice and commitment planning, as well as ideating and implementing innovative investment solutions. Research would include, but would not be limited to, cash flow forecasting and J-Curve analysis, commitment planning, liquidity management, return attribution, performance measurement, etc.

In addition to conducting quantitative research on Private Assets, the candidate will also work and interact with clients and Wealth Advisors, and as such this role requires creativity, the ability to multitask, attention to detail, as well as interpersonal and communication skills. Highly qualified candidates at the Vice President level will also be considered.

How You Will Fulfil Your Potential

  • Be responsible for the research on Private Assets in ISG
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills
  • Show a keen interest in understanding the financial markets, particularly private markets
  • Interact with the firm’s current and prospective clients
  • Coordinate with other teams across Goldman Sachs (such as Global Investment Research, Alternative Capital Markets, External Investing Group etc.)

Requirements

  • Outstanding academic background, preferably a PhD or Masters in Finance or Economics from a top department
  • Academic or Industry experience working with Private Assets data
  • Experience with econometric and machine learning techniques
  • Expertise in Python and/or other modeling platforms (Matlab, R,...)
  • Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms
  • Attention to detail, patience, and ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
  • Collaborative, teamwork-oriented and having strong interpersonal skills
  • Independent, logical, and critical thinking, with the willingness to constantly think outside of the box
