The Prime Finance business supports institutional and hedge fund clients with products and strategies that are optimal with respect to funding, balance sheet utilisation and financing efficiency. Business revenues are driven through the facilitation of stock loan, inventory management and funding activities across a range of equity and fixed income instruments. Prime Finance, a key growth area for the global Equities franchise, is undergoing a transformational change. It is a complex and nuanced global business, operating at scale, requiring significant technological investment to make our platform the best in class. We are building a team of engineers to spearhead the delivery of high-impact financing projects, working alongside Stock Loan, Inventory Management and Synthetic Product Group (SPG).

The Prime Finance Engineering team is a dynamic and innovative front office team that partners with trading, stock loan, inventory management, SPG, operations, prime services and other engineering teams. We are focused on building and enhancing the applications and workflows that support high-impact financing-related projects, benefiting our firm & our clients. You will design, build, and operate scalable platforms to deliver for the business. You will lean into AI-driven development to comprehend existing codebases, generate and assess production-quality code, and accelerate the software development lifecycle. We are agile, global and diverse. We are seeking developers who will undertake development across all tiers of our business-facing systems.

Your Impact

  • Partner with Stock Loan, Inventory Management and SPG to design and build the platforms that power funding strategies, optimise inventory allocation, and streamline stock loan workflows — directly improving financing efficiency for the firm and our clients.
  • Own the end-to-end engineering delivery of strategic funding initiatives, from requirements through production, ensuring the business can move faster and capture opportunities ahead of the market.
  • Build scalable, reliable platforms that reduce manual processes in funding and inventory workflows, enabling the Equities business to handle growing volumes at lower operational cost.

What You Will Do

  • Innovate creative solutions to complex business and technical problems, building wide-reaching capabilities impacting multiple business areas.
  • Partner with other engineers, domain experts, and global stakeholders to understand, model, and digitize the firm's business processes and strategies, challenging entrenched practices and driving projects across teams.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of software components, from requirements analysis through design, development, testing, and release, in line with robust SDLC and Agile best practices.
  • Be proactive in your approach, managing both daily tasks and a project role, building upon teamwork and communication skills as you become integrated within the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's / Master's degree, preferably in a STEM subject, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics etc.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience in an object orientated language (Java, Python, C++, or other OO technology) including data structures and algorithms.
  • A good understanding of the principles behind test-driven development (TDD) with hands‑on experience of unit testing.
  • Strong SDLC practices: version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated build/test/deploy workflows.
  • Ability to rapidly navigate, understand, and debug large and unfamiliar codebases — with and without AI assistance.
  • Ability to analyse non‑trivial interdependencies between systems and possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Highly motivated with a commitment to delivering to timelines.
  • An interest in financial services is expected; prior experience is not required.

Benefits

  • Healthcare & Medical Insurance: We offer a wide range of health and welfare programs that vary depending on office location.
