Must Have: Investment Management/Financial Markets Experience (Hedge Funds, Asset Management, Sell-Side, Brokerage Houses, Financial Exchanges)

We are working exclusively with a market-maker to identify a dual-stack Infrastructure Engineer to join their global infrastructure function. This is a deeply technical, hands-on role for an engineer with equal command of both Linux and Windows production environments, operating within a high-performance electronic trading infrastructure where uptime, latency, and precision are non-negotiable.

The Role:

  • You will own the engineering, automation, and operational stability of the firm's hybrid infrastructure spanning both Linux and Windows environments.
  • This is an engineering-first role — the firm needs someone who architects, automates, and optimises at a systems level, not someone who reacts to tickets.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Engineering and maintaining production Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments across trading and corporate infrastructure.
  • Managing and optimising VMware vSphere/ESXi virtualisation platforms at an infrastructure level.
  • Owning Active Directory architecture, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and PKI alongside Linux identity integration (LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD).
  • Developing automation frameworks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and infrastructure-as-code tooling (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Supporting and optimising low-latency trading infrastructure — kernel tuning, CPU pinning, NUMA optimisation, and network stack configuration on Linux.
  • Owning patching strategy, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management across both estates.
  • Hardening environments against CIS benchmarks and internal security standards across both platforms.
  • Investigating and resolving complex, high-priority incidents in a time-critical production trading environment.
  • Contributing to infrastructure architecture decisions alongside network, security, and platform engineering teams.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5–10 years hands-on infrastructure engineering experience across both Linux and Windows in a production environment.
  • Deep Linux systems expertise — RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu, kernel-level tuning, performance optimisation.
  • Strong Windows Server engineering — Active Directory architecture, GPO design, PKI, and security hardening.
  • Advanced scripting and automation capability across PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
  • VMware vSphere/ESXi administration and optimisation at an infrastructure level.
  • Experience in electronic trading, low-latency, or financial services production environments essential.
  • Strong incident diagnosis, root cause analysis, and post-mortem capability.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience — Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent.
