Background

It’s a great time to join Golding as we’re an efficient, local, visible and listening organisation, providing sustainable homes and communities. We’ve an established track record for building quality homes and investing in our local communities.

The Role of the Audit and Assurance Committee - Independent Member

The Audit and Assurance Committee (the Committee) independent role provides an independent view and opinion. The independent member doesn’t sit on the parent Board of Golding Homes. All Committee members share the same status and have equal responsibility for ensuring that the Committee fulfils its collective role. This is a key appointment – you’ll bring extensive experience of corporate financial management, audit and corporate accounting alongside a knowledge and awareness of key priorities within the housing sector. You’ll have experience of audit and risk governance processes in a regulated organisation and an excellent working knowledge of audit committee practices and risk management frameworks.

What to expect

Taking up a position as an Independent Committee member will be challenging but can also be rewarding. You’ll gain new skills and abilities which may help you in other areas of your life.

Time commitment

Our Audit and Assurance Committee meets 5 times per year via MS Teams. Meetings are generally held late afternoon on a Thursday for a duration of 2-3 hours. Independent Committee members also attend our Board away days which includes one full day session and overnight stay, and one full day session. We provide Independent Committee members with the necessary equipment to enable them to receive meeting papers and relevant information electronically and also attend meetings by video conference. We can also help with any other arrangements to meet additional needs. You’ll need to be able to devote sufficient time for preparation for meetings to enable you to participate fully and effectively.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We’re committed to valuing diversity and promoting equal opportunities for all and welcome applicants from all communities. No matter what your ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age or disability status, you’ll get all the opportunities, support and respect you’d expect from Golding Homes.

Payment as a Committee member

The current amount is £3,855 per annum plus reasonable expenses for other costs to support you in this role (including mileage, childcare or carer costs). We welcome applications from any resident (tenant, shared owner or leaseholder) or non-resident who has an appetite to help us deliver excellent services to our residents. You don’t necessarily need experience on another Board to apply, however, you’ll need to demonstrate that you have the right skills or that you can develop them with our support.

Application Process

Thank you for your interest in this exciting new opportunity with Golding Homes. Here’s some information that you’ll find helpful in completing your application. You’ll be required to fill in the key section of the online application form and to upload your detailed CV and a supporting statement. The closing date for applications is midnight on 13 April 2025. Your application will be acknowledged and treated in the strictest confidence. We won’t be able to accept late applications. If successful to the next stage, you’ll be invited to a formal interview. If you’re invited to attend a formal interview, we’ll contact you by email to confirm the arrangements. The interviews will take place on 28 April. If you’re unsuccessful at the shortlist stage, we’ll also contact you by email to let you know. If this sounds like you, and you share our passion and belief in the work we do, then we’d love to hear from you.
