The Head of Data, Digital, and Technology is responsible for leading the strategic planning, implementation, and management of the organisation’s data, digital systems, and technology functions.

This role ensures that digital and technology initiatives align with the business goals, providing robust governance, security, and innovation across the organisation’s operations.

The individual in this role will be accountable for key decision-making and will oversee teams responsible for the delivery and support of digital services, technology infrastructure, data analytics, and technology-driven business transformation.

Responsibilities – Head of Data, Digital and Technology:

Strategy and Governance

  • Strategic Planning: Accountable for defining and delivering the organisation’s digital and data strategy.

  • Governance: Provide governance for digital and data initiatives, ensuring they are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Risk Management: Lead risk management efforts related to digital transformation and technological operations.

  • Data Management: Provide strategic oversight for the organisation’s data management efforts.

  • Innovation: Drive technological innovation across the organisation, including the evaluation of emerging technologies.

  • Financial Management: Manage and control the financial aspects of the technology and digital functions, ensuring cost-effective solutions.

Relationships and Engagement

  • Supplier Management: Accountable for managing relationships with third-party technology providers.

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Lead engagement with stakeholders across the business to ensure the success of digital and technology initiatives.

Change and Transformation

  • Programme Management: Accountable for the governance of key technology-driven programmes.

  • Portfolio, Programme, and Project Support: Ensure adequate support structures are in place to manage the portfolio of technology projects.

Service Management

  • Application Support and IT Infrastructure: Govern the overall IT infrastructure, providing leadership on application support and system development.

  • Facilities Management and Service Level Management: Oversee the management of physical and digital infrastructure services.

  • Incident and Problem Management: Accountable for managing and resolving IT incidents and problems.

  • Information Security and Assurance: Ensure robust security measures are in place to protect the organisation’s data and systems.

People and Skills

  • Performance Management: Accountable for managing the performance of the digital and technology teams.

  • Professional Development: Ensure that team members receive the necessary training and development to support the organisation’s digital goals.

  • Resourcing: Lead resource planning and recruitment for the digital and technology functions.

  • Learning and Development Management: Support learning initiatives related to technology and data across the organisation.

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent for example Computer Science, Digital transformation.

  • PRINCE 2 or equivalent project management qualification.

  • Certificate in digital transformation, technology and IT Management (ITIL).

  • Proven leadership in digital transformation and technology management.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, IT security, and privacy regulations.

  • Experience with strategic planning, business architecture, and enterprise-wide technology initiatives.

  • Ability to manage risk, compliance, and governance within a digital and technological context.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Solid financial management skills to oversee budgets for technology and digital services.

  • Hands-on experience with leading data, digital and technology services and change projects.

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align technology with business strategy.

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to manage complex technological challenges.

  • Leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams across different functions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various stakeholders.
