Asbestos Technical Manager

Hybrid role | Midlands & Surrounding Areas

Up to £50k + Benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected Asbestos Consultancy that’s continuing to expand across the UK. With a strong focus on delivering a high-quality service to a wide portfolio of clients, they’re now looking to bring in a Technical Manager to help maintain their technical standards and drive forward best practice.

This could be the perfect next step for someone who’s been working as a Deputy Technical Manager or Compliance Auditor and is ready to take on more responsibility in a company where your input will be valued and supported.

The role:

The Technical Manager will play a key part in maintaining UKAS accreditations to ISO17025 and ISO17020. You’ll be involved in a wide range of technical and compliance-led tasks across surveying, analytical and laboratory activities and you’ll also contribute to staff development by supporting ongoing training and competency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing compliance with asbestos technical procedures through audit reviews and training
  • Managing the audit schedule and employee authorisation records
  • Reviewing QA processes across inspection and testing activities
  • Supporting internal training initiatives, including toolbox talks and refreshers
  • Supporting new staff through induction and probation
  • Managing internal QC and external proficiency testing schemes (RICE and AIMS)
  • Assisting with UKAS assessments and closing out findings
  • Carrying out site-based technical audits
  • Overseeing equipment calibration, servicing and consumables
  • Providing hands-on support and guidance to the wider technical team

To be considered, you will need:

  • Strong asbestos background is essential
  • Minimum of P401, P402, P403, P404 or Certificate of Competence in Asbestos
  • Sound understanding of UKAS accreditations – ISO17025 and ISO17020
  • Experience conducting technical audits
  • Confident communicator with excellent organisational skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing time across varied responsibilities
  • A full UK driving license – this role will require national travel at times, therefore willingness to travel is essential

Why apply?

You’ll be joining one of the UK’s leading asbestos consultancies, with a fantastic reputation for quality, professionalism and staff development. The team is supportive, the standards are high and there’s genuine room to grow. Whether you’ve already held a Technical Manager role or are ready to step up from a Deputy or Auditor position, this could be a great step in your career.
