We are seeking a diligent Part-time Lettings Compliance Officer to ensure our rental properties meet all legal and quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional with a strong understanding of UK residential lettings law, regulatory requirements and the forthcoming Renters’ Rights reforms.
This role involves monitoring compliance, conducting inspections, and maintaining high-quality assurance standards across our lettings portfolio. The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding the integrity of our lettings process while supporting our team in delivering excellent service to tenants and landlords alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the agency remains fully compliant with all residential lettings legislation.
- Monitor and implement changes arising from the Renters’ Rights reforms and other legislative updates.
- Advise the business on the abolition of Section 21, possession procedures, serving statutory notices and lawful eviction processes.
- Ensure tenancy agreements, prescribed information, notices and legal documentation comply with current legislation.
- Oversee compliance relating to tenancy deposits, Right to Rent, Gas Safety Certificates, EICRs, EPCs, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, licensing and all statutory requirements.
- Carry out regular compliance audits and identify any areas of risk.
- Develop and update internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to the lettings and property management teams.
- Liaise with landlords, legal advisers, local authorities and external regulatory bodies where required.
- Help protect the business by ensuring robust compliance processes are maintained.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a lettings compliance role or a senior residential lettings position with compliance responsibilities.
- Excellent knowledge of UK residential lettings legislation.
- Strong understanding of the Renters’ Rights reforms and possession law.
- Experience with serving statutory notices and understanding lawful eviction procedures.
- Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical compliance advice.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
Desirable
- Experience with commercial property and commercial lease compliance.
- ARLA Propertymark qualification or equivalent.
- Experience dealing with landlord licensing and local authority enforcement.
- Experience delivering compliance training to staff.
