Aon’s Asset Allocation team helps not only spearhead thought leadership within the Wealth business but across the whole of Aon. It therefore offers the potential for excellent career progression and exposure across the firm.
What will the day look like?
- Keeping on top of what is going on in markets, trying to work out what is driving moves, and answering questions from investment consultants and clients.
- Research asset classes, with an eye to rising opportunities and risks.
- Assisting investment consultants on what they should be recommending to clients given their clients’ unique circumstances, joining client meetings to provide high-level views on the economy and markets, but also having in-depth knowledge ready if those clients wish to delve deeper.
- Preparing bespoke client papers.

The team is global and hence you will be interacting with practices across the world, and our expertise is often tapped by other business units, so this is a great way to improve your Aon United credentials too. You will get to learn about all of our main deliverables, and eventually will likely lead one of them. Our main areas of focus include:
- Tactical views for our US, Canadian and UK delegated/OCIO teams, and larger more active clients.
- Medium-term views for clients which might want to shift from their strategic positioning, or want advice on whether to slow/accelerate their derisking journey.
- Longer-term strategic asset class views, which feed through into the Capital Market Assumption process.
- Economic views and forecasts.
- Deterministic scenario analysis, which includes work on climate change.
Skills and experience that would help lead to success:
- Educated to degree level or higher. Economics, maths or finance is preferable.
- A professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA, FIA or FFA.
- Strong numeracy and technical skills. Familiarity with excel VBA, python or R coding skills would be an advantage.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proactive and a self-starter.
