HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC's worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC's clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management business for a Quantitative Research Developer (Equities). The Equity Quantitative Research team is taking an increasingly central role in the development of new equity strategies and ensuring existing funds are aligned with our core investment process. The role involves liaising with senior desk heads as well as CIOs in London and overseas and the role holder needs to be confident, articulate and credible when discussing the quant strategy and capable of delivering high quality results in a time pressured environment.

This role focuses on the ongoing development of Visualiser which is HSBC's proprietary active equity research platform and to enable this the role holder will require high level knowledge of full-stack software development, have experience working with database structures and be familiar with standard software development practices (code versioning, documentation, Agile methodology, IT process flows).

In this role you will:

  • Active input into the design, build, test and support Visualiser and perform functional analysis (data, systems and interfaces).
  • Contribute to research projects by carrying out data analysis, model design, build, verification and presentation.
  • Be responsible for making sure that all requirements defined by the research teams are successfully delivered and also ensure that these are reviewed and signed off.
  • Translate business requests into functional requirements and designs and implement those in an efficient and effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with HSBC Operations, Services and Technology designers, developers, and project managers to complete, thoroughly test, and deliver innovative software solutions.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following Essential Requirements:

  • Be a highly experienced and qualified professional within a Quantitative led occupation is essential, it would be a bonus if that is within Financial Services setting.
  • Demonstrable senior level knowledge and experience of full-stack software development and the design and implementation of fully integrated back to front end platforms is essential.
  • Deep knowledge of working with database structures (SQL Server, Postgres etc) and be able to clearly capture and communicate business requirements and user's desires is essential.
  • Strong capability in standard software development practices and (code versioning, documentation, Agile methodology, IT process flows in a corporate environment and user training) is essential.
  • High to expert levels of knowledge in C# is essential.
  • Advance education in a quantitative subject and a strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
