Site Director / General Manager

Position Summary

A growing industrial water and wastewater treatment organization is seeking an experienced Site Director to lead a business unit focused on the design, manufacturing, commissioning, and servicing of custom treatment systems. The organization delivers turnkey solutions to municipal, industrial, resource, agricultural, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and remote community clients.

The Site Director will be responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, financial results, and strategic growth of the business. This role oversees operations, engineering, project execution, sales support, customer service, and team development while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for day-to-day site and business unit operations.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, P&L oversight, cost control, and revenue optimization.
  • Lead and develop cross-functional teams across operations, engineering, project management, service, sales support, and administration.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Support business development efforts by strengthening customer relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Ensure successful project delivery through effective resource planning, scheduling, quality management, and customer communication.
  • Monitor key operational and financial metrics and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align site objectives with broader organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee development, and performance management initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Identify operational risks and implement scalable systems and processes to support business growth.
  • Represent the organization professionally with customers, industry associations, and external partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Construction Management, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial services, engineered systems, water treatment, environmental services, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing business operations, financial performance, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of operational management, project execution, budgeting, and process improvement principles.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, prioritize competing demands, and deliver measurable results.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience building and maintaining customer relationships and supporting commercial growth initiatives.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise business systems (ERP platforms).

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience within water treatment, wastewater treatment, filtration, environmental services, or industrial process industries.
  • Familiarity with engineered equipment, industrial manufacturing, or process technologies.
  • Experience overseeing multiple sites, divisions, or business units.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success driving operational improvements, organizational growth, and profitability.
  • Experience in customer-focused technical, industrial, or service-based environments.
  • Understanding of quality management systems, safety programs, and regulatory compliance requirements.
