WHO WE ARE:

Gold Standard is a not-for-profit organization that helps companies understand the role they should play in creating a net-zero, sustainable nature future and provides tangible ways for them to contribute. This includes investments in their value chains, carbon credits, and other mechanisms for high-integrity climate action that delivers real impact for people and nature.

The Gold Standard Foundation was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) also delivered sustainable development benefits. Today, our standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, allows climate and development initiatives within carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance to manage, measure and maximise their impacts toward the Net Zero ambition of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Design and develop core components of the data architecture and infrastructure that power Gold Standard’s dMRV solutions—built for scale, reliability and security.
  • Develop data models, schemas and pipelines ingesting diverse sources (e.g., remote sensing, IoT, surveys), and integrate them into a centralised platform.
  • Translate methodology and assurance requirements into pragmatic, digital solutions; identify opportunities to digitise and automate calculations and processes.
  • Script complex, multi‑step calculations and ensure the quality, consistency and integrity of data across the platform.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and specialists to embed data solutions into a cohesive, central platform; provide clear technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current on dMRV, data management and sustainable finance trends; help manage day‑to‑day operations of the dMRV platform and act as platform owner when required

  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure and pipelines for complex, multi-source environments—ideally within climate, sustainability, or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to develop and optimise data models, schemas, and pipelines that integrate diverse sources such as IoT devices, remote sensing, and survey data.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools, particularly Power BI (M & DAX), for data analysis, reporting, and visualisation.
  • Familiarity with cloud and data services (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Data Factory, Warehouses/Lakehouses, API development) and an eagerness to learn new technologies as the field evolves.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and analytical mindset to tackle complex data challenges and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences and provide clear guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.
