An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Scientist to join a client in the Underwater Measurement Systems sector, based in Staffordshire. This role is within a dedicated Research Team, focusing on electromagnetic field studies, software development, and system design related to vessel systems and underwater measurement ranges.
Key Responsibilities:
- The role will involve a variety of scientific, modelling, and programming activities across different project stages, including:
- Magnetic and electric source modelling
- Electromagnetic field propagation in various media
- Finite Element & Boundary Element Analysis
- Underwater Signature Analysis (electromagnetic, acoustic, pressure, seismic)
- Numerical and optimisation methods
- Modern control theory
Qualifications/Education Requirements:
- Educated to degree level (or higher) in physics, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline
- A postgraduate qualification or relevant experience is highly desirable
- Strong programming skills (experience in C++ is a plus)
- Experience in electromagnetic modelling, Vector Fields FEA, COMSOL, MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous
- Strong written communication and report writing skills
- Confident in presenting and customer interactions
- Willingness to travel for site work, research, or commissioning trials in the UK and globally
