Are you an experienced Power Systems Engineer with a passion for designing innovative power electronics solutions? I am looking for a talented engineer to join a growing engineering team, developing cutting-edge power electronics for high-reliability Marine, Aerospace and Defence applications. You will play a key role in designing and modelling advanced power systems, working on technologies including motor drives, inverters, converters and power management systems.

The Role

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, modelling, simulation and validation of advanced power electronic systems. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will develop efficient, reliable and high-performance power conversion solutions from concept through to verification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop power electronic circuits including DC-DC converters, AC-DC rectifiers, inverters and motor drives
  • Model and simulate power electronics using MATLAB, Simulink and LTspice
  • Develop digital control strategies and optimise system performance, stability and efficiency
  • Produce system-level simulations to evaluate transient and steady-state behaviour
  • Support design verification through testing, analysis and correlation of simulation and hardware results
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate power electronics into larger electrical systems
  • Produce technical documentation including circuit designs, specifications and simulation reports
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability and cost through continuous improvement initiatives

What We are Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related discipline
  • Proven experience designing power electronic systems, including converters, inverters or motor drives
  • Strong knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink and LTspice for modelling and simulation
  • Experience with system-level modelling, circuit analysis and power device selection
  • Knowledge of digital control techniques and feedback control systems
  • Experience working with semiconductor devices including MOSFETs and IGBTs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for innovative engineering

Desirable Experience

  • Thermal management and EMC design considerations
  • Magnetic component design (inductors and transformers)
  • Experience within Marine, Aerospace or Defence environments
  • High-reliability or safety-critical systems experience
