Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + benefits

Our client, an established defence engineering firm, require an experienced RF Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team in Barrow in Furness. Working on cutting-edge marine systems, this is an opportunity to lead work in radar, infrared, visual, and RF signature reduction and contribute directly to the UK's strategic defence capability. Support with relocation costs can be discussed and included in an offer package, subject to HR approval.

What the role of the RF Engineer entails:

  • Lead the development of the Stealth Engineering Department's Above Water Signatures capability
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design stealthy equipment and systems
  • Defining technical requirements, test methods, and approval criteria
  • Providing above water signature subject matter expertise at key design review stages
  • Reviewing design documentation to confirm that above water signature requirements are met
  • Leading modelling efforts for radar, infrared, visual, and RF signatures using custom and commercial tools
  • Developing testing methodologies to confirm signature performance
  • Supporting full-scale trials during submarine commissioning
  • Managing research with internal teams and university partners
  • Improving stealth features on in-service submarines

What experience you need to be the successful RF Engineer:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Maths, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM field.
  • Experience with modelling software or programming tools.
  • A strong grasp of electromagnetism, radar, or infrared and visual detection technologies.
  • Candidates would need to hold British nationality and have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for SC security clearance.
