Our client, an established defence manufacturing firm in Usk, Monmouthshire require an experienced Portfolio Manager to join their multi-disciplined team. You will be appointed to a newly established project team, assuming leadership responsibility for the delivery of individual work packages. Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring the rigorous derivation and execution of the programme to achieve a robust and effective solution.

Candidates would need to have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for SC security clearance.

What the role of the Portfolio Manager entails:

  • You will lead the delivery of your project portfolio, monitoring and reporting performance across schedule, technical, financial and quality goals while providing professional project management and building good customer and supplier relationships through effective communication and expectation management.
  • You will identify and develop follow-on business opportunities, deliver financial planning to meet targets for orders, sales, margin and cash, and ensure accurate forward-load data is produced using business toolsets to support effective forecasting and portfolio decision-making.

What experience you need to be the successful Portfolio Manager:

  • Degree-level qualification (engineering discipline preferred) or comparable experience in the engineering/manufacturing sector, with demonstrable Project Management delivery experience, ideally from a comparable industry (Defence).
  • Have formal training in Project Management (accredited by APM, PMI or PRINCE), with knowledge of scheduling and risk software tools (e.g. MS Project & Predict!), as well as experience of SAP.
  • Proven skills in building customer relationships and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Experienced in managing risks and opportunities to benefit the projects.
  • Experience working as a Project Manager or Project Engineer in the Manufacturing or Engineering sector.
