Our client, an established engineering services consultancy in Plymouth, require an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join their team. The Civil Engineer Lead will work collaboratively with the Customer to provide technical support on non-nuclear and nuclear assets and facilities within the Devonport Dockyard site; for example, refurbishments/renovation, new developments and listed building compliance.
What the role of the Lead Civil Engineer entails:
- Establish and lead a small team of civil engineering professionals
- Providing advice on construction related matters
- Providing input into various stages of the RIBA process
- Producing drawing information and specification
- Liaising with key customer stakeholders and design team
- Interfacing with statutory authorities
- Arrange Site and Ground Investigations, undertake condition surveys and interpret findings to create reports and remediation strategies where necessary.
- Alterations to existing structures including listed buildings, design of small scale new structures and Input into temporary support design
What experience you need to be the successful Lead Civil Engineer:
- Relevant post-graduate civil engineering experience
- Proven track record in delivering projects from RIBA stages 3 to 5
- Knowledge and experience working within RIBA stages 0 to 2 preferable
- Strong knowledge of Revit and/or similar BIM capable software and project delivery to BIM level 2
- Proficiency in understanding/production of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience in checking and verification up to category 2 within civil/structure engineering.
- Understanding of nuclear industry and/or other safety critical environments.
- Experience in working in a dockyard, marine, Defence or MoD environments particularly with asset lifecycle support.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial sector environment
- Experience with deliver projects in compliance environmental regulations
- Experience working with common data environment or data delivery platforms
- Experience working with various size projects to provide a broad range of skills
