Brief

Mobile Mechanical Engineer needed for a large facilities management organisation who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Mobile Mechanical Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of maintenance works.

The successful candidate would desirably have an NVQ level 2 in plumbing and heating or a relevant field. If you have experience in facilities management work that would be a plus!

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Mobile Mechanical Engineer will include:

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services, including Legionella control and basic plumbing.
  • Manage routine PPM tasks via CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo) and swiftly respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Prepare and use Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance with health & safety policies.
  • Lead and supervise subcontractors to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, plant logs, and complete relevant paperwork promptly.
  • Support out-of-hours callouts as part of a flexible rota.
  • Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure operational continuity.

What experience you need to be the successful Mobile Mechanical Engineer:

  • Minimum 5 years\’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a Facilities Management environment.
  • City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
  • Strong fault-finding, repair, and maintenance skills across mechanical and electrical plant.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident engaging with clients and internal teams.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • IT literate with experience using CAFM systems and report writing.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Flexible attitude with willingness to undertake lone working and out-of-hours duties.
