An opportunity to become part of Europe\βs No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer\βs needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform a range of engineering activities including progressing developmental designs into production environments and working with suppliers on technical queries.
The Role
Mechanical Engineering is excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer within our Military Packaging Design Team; involving Product Life Cycle, from concepts and detailed designs through to trials, qualification, production, and further in-service support.
In this role, you will design and develop mechanical solutions for a wide variety of complex Military Packaging for critical defence products. You will influence design decisions across the full life cycle and play a key role in ensuring designs meet performance, safety, cost and scheduled customer requirements. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality and supply chain.
Appointments will be made at an appropriate level based on skills and experience.
Experience & Qualifications
- Ideally Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with relevant industry experience
- Proven ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams across mechanical design work packages
- Strong experience across full product life cycles, from concept to in-service support
- In-depth knowledge of design proving and qualification activities
- Robust hands-on experience with design methodologies such as DFMEA, DFA, and DFM
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and make technical decisions
- Experience engaging with and developing suppliers and external partners
- Ability to manage priorities, assess risk, and mentor less experienced engineers
- Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training provided on company tools)
